Axis of Conversation

Axis of Conversation

Axis of Conversation

Imagine two people speaking: one speaks in samples and drumbreaks, the other in strings and a hushed voice. Together, they speak of longing, love, and the state of things. This is Axis of Conversation.

Singer/guitarist/sample artist Chris dela Torre has built a charming ensemble with violinist Shelly Groves, cellist Cheryl Bergen, drummer Matt Doherty, bassist Eric Estor and multi-instrumentalist Gerry Dacanay, and their debut album 'Delusions of Safety' has climbed college rock charts nationwide.

Robert Young

Robert Young

To say that Rob Young is a Sinatra fan would be an understatement! With his swinging band Rob re-incarnates the key of Frank.

Simon Fisk

Stephen Fisk

Stephen Fisk

Since his apprenticeship in the Canadian jazz scene of the late 1980's Vancouver based guitarist Stephen Fisk has carved out a unique musical niche for himself. His recordings and performances with Troika, Freeplay, the Chris Tarry Group and Uncommon Gold, have garnered him critical acclaim across North America.

The Fisk Brothers

The Fisk Brothers

From isolated beginnings in rural Nova Scotia, Tim, Stephen and Simon have continued to abide by their musical passions. Their interests and skills in and out of music are multi-faceted lending themselves to a mature, enduring musicality.

Uncommon Gold

Uncommon Gold

Uncommon Gold's remix of diverse musical vocabularies holds no genre allegiance; they borrow what they need to tell the stories they hear. Evoking trace influences of Neil Young's raw sincerity, Daniel Lanois' rarefied sonics and Miles Davis' bold innovations, the band has given notice that its robust musicality, exploratory muscle and pop savvy is a potent concoction.
