Axis of Conversation
Delusions of Safety
"Delusions of Safety is the type of record that jumps out from left field. Radiohead may have waited until its third full-length to pull out the majestic manifesto of OK Computer, but Axis of Conversation has created a work equally self-actualized its first time out, and it's an introduction well worth making." - Swerve Magazine.
"Axis of Conversation strongly distinguish themselves with absorbing melodic experiments in sound." - FFWD Weekly.
"A soundtrack to a pleasant dream." - BeatRoute Magazine.
"A true creation of musical individuality impossible to find elsewhere on the music scene." - The Reflector.
Recently, Axis of Conversation retreated to a stolen room with producer / engineer Reuben Ghose (WhiteRoom, The Dudes). It was a tumultuous time for the young band: birth, death and car accidents were among what was being dealt with. After spending nearly two months hiding from daylight, they emerged with Delusions of Safety.
It could be said that the music contained is both melodic and experimental, and touches pop music both at its core and its boundaries. At times, songs are presented in a conventional language. Elsewhere, stolen voices stir below floating guitars. Dirty drumbreaks reconcile with heartbroken strings. And the voice of a French girl is fondled…
Delusions of Safety is the first proper offering from Calgary-based experimental pop group Axis of Conversation - a brand new collective with a keen ear for melody and a truly adventurous spirit.

Axis of Conversation
Imagine two people speaking: one speaks in samples and drumbreaks, the other in strings and a hushed voice. Together, they speak of longing, love, and the state of things. This is Axis of Conversation.
Singer/guitarist/sample artist Chris dela Torre has built a charming ensemble with violinist Shelly Groves, cellist Cheryl Bergen, drummer Matt Doherty, bassist Eric Estor and multi-instrumentalist Gerry Dacanay, and their debut album 'Delusions of Safety' has climbed college rock charts nationwide.
