Gerry Hebert Quartet

Gerry Hebert Quartet

Based in Calgary, Alberta, the Gerry Hébert Quartet has been showcasing its lush, layered

and driving style since 1997. The group's distinctive jazz approach reflects a slight western

flavour while preserving its trademark clean and rhythmic sound. Each musician in this truly

collaborative ensemble brings an expressive melodic and harmonic voice to every piece.

There is always a clear intent to weave the melody interactively throughout the quartet,

engaging all members in a diverse and stimulating series of musical conversations. The

group's first CD,The Beat Niq Sessions Volume 1: 6th Ave & 2am, was released in the fall

of 2003, and the 2nd CD, The Beat Niq Sessions Volume 2:ConstructiveInterference

followed in early 2008. This latest release features all new compositions developed by the quartet for the 2010 winter tour.

"Gerry Hébert has created a CD that has a vibe and a mood. This is what makes

music more interesting that just a succession of solos. Gerry has created an

environment. Bravo!" -Kenny Werner

"Gerry and his seasoned cohorts have reached a new level of subtle artistry - it proves

that total commitment to seeking truth through the love of playing ultimately inspires

and creates beauty that is beyond description"-Hugh A. Fraser

"...it's as if he is burrsting every note with a story, a song...I found it inspiring, deeply

satisfying and remembered his music long after..."-Dr Jeremy Brown
